Martha Stewart Weddings sent all kinds of good news!

I always get happy when I get an email from the Martha Stewart Weddings offices.  The one that came this week was chock full of good news:
First, they're having a wedding party in Chicago!  We have lots of destination wedding clients in and around the Chicago area, so this is great for all of you.
"Expert Panel with Darcy Miller, Editorial Director, Martha Stewart Weddings
Over 40 Vendors and a Destination & Honeymoon Lounge at the beautiful Radisson Blu, Chicago
Delicious treats, bubby beverages and great gift bags!"

Even greater- they have given me FIVE PAIRS of tickets to give away.  Want them? Leave a comment with your wedding date and we'll put you in the drawing for this Tuesday.
Next, the newest issue hits newsstands tomorrow. RUN, don't walk!  Just kidding, or not.
Finally, the BIG one.  At the Wedding Party, they are giving away a luxury honeymoon.  An outrageously wonderful 12 day honeymoon to India and the Maldives.  Its worth it to go just for the chance to win this!

I love Martha Stewart Weddings

There is no denying it.  I have been a loyal fan for as long as the magazine has been in existence.  When they added the website and blog to the mix- as Rachael Zoe (my favorite celebrity stylist) would say, "I die".  What I love about Martha Stewart Weddings is the uncompromisable standard of quality and loyalty to the wedding world.  I adore that its always been about the joy, beauty, and fun of a wedding.

By the way TODAY is the last day this issue is on newsstands!
Well, the summer issue this year was hands down one of my favorites (yes, I say that every time, but its true).  I was ripping pages out left and right.

One of my favorite reasons I loved this issue was that there was a bit of a focus on my favorite wedding element- cake.  In my opinion, wedding cake is what takes a great dinner party to a wedding dinner.
Somehow classic and contemporary at the same time.  Don't you think?

This one, to me finds a way to be sophisticated and whimsical.

What will be on the newsstands tomorrow?  The fashion issue.
Yes, I am sure it will be one of my favorites ever as well.  Do you have a favorite issue?

The Martha Stewart Show

A Wedding show!

I got cool news in my inbox tonight. This Friday (1/18), the Martha Stewart show will be all wedding. Yahoo! I'll be out on Captiva meeting with clients when its on, but you betcha I'll have the tivo set to record this one. Two Badgley Mishka fashion shows are planned, one with wedding dresses and another for their bridesmaids dress line. I'd take any of them- the preview looks really good (check the Martha website to watch the preview). Also planned for the show- the good stuff, aka cake and dessert. Oh, and it wouldn't be a wedding show without Darcy Miller!

Ooooh, if you haven't read the most recent issue of Martha Stewart Weddings- you're missing out. It's one of the best yet. How do I know? I folded down the corners on more than half the editorial pages. That translates to a whole bunch of stuff I'm dying to try.

Really now, how can you not like Martha Stewart Wedding Stuff?

I stopped at the PO Box today and found the Fall 07 Martha Stewart Weddings! YEA! I know, I'm a bit of a dork, but I really get excited when it comes. I read 1/2 of it in the lobby at the Ritz (arrived a bit early for our meeting) and I was bending down pages left and right. First of all on page 66 there is an article about Tiecrafters. You can send them fabric and they will make you a tie! This is great for those who want the boys to match the girls exactly. Just purchase additional yardage from your bridemaid dress manufacturer. A little out of budget? No fear, I still swear by SolidColorNeckTies.com (hello, $7 per tie, 52 shades of fabulous).

Then on page 70, there's an article called stir things up. This is one of those little details that costs next to nothing, takes a small amount of effort and makes a big impact. Great use of color. Sorry about the crease in the picture...I really do fold down pages I want to go back to!

Lovely. Pretty. I want it.

I'm not having a wedding again anytime soon, but if I were, I could say that I found my cake. I saw it on the TODAY show the other morning, and I think I began to druel a little. Ha!

The cake is so simple, but grand at the same time. Truly though, what makes it, is the gorgeous wreath of flowers around it. I just adore it. I love the flowers, the colors, the size, everything. I searched up and down the TODAY show and Martha Stewart Weddings websites looking for a photo of it and couldn't find one. So I vowed not to watch anymore of the TODAY show Martha Stewart Wedding segments. Yeah right. I'd make it like 1 day. Who am I kidding? No I wouldn't. So rather than swear off wedding tv, I commented on Darcys blog to ask her if she could find a photo of it and today she posted it. Thank you Darcy.
Oh, and the designer is Matthew Robbins. He's fabo. I wonder if he's available for the wedding I'm not having.

Send someone flowers!

I just got a surprise at my door. Flowers! My friend sent them for absolutely no reason other than to surprise me. How nice was that? Can I just tell you how happy it made me? I'll tell you how nice. It was so nice that I decided to spread the niceness on and send someone these flowers. I ordered the snapdragons from MARTHASTEWARTFLOWERS.COM , just because they look so Martha Stewart pretty.

Ok- I promise...no more posts today. I went a little blog crazy.

Today Throws a Martha Stewart Wedding

HUGE NEWS! By far, I'm sure this is going to be the best Today wedding to date. I am so excited. I logged on to the Martha Stewart Weddings website today (I usually do this about once a week) and found this really exciting news. Click here to get the scoop on how you can maybe be the lucky couple to win this wedding.
"TODAY producers and TODAY talent will also search for TODAY’S next wedding couple in Las Vegas, Miami, Chicago and New York. Talent, intellect, a good personal story and creativity will be sought out in the couples applying. Four couples will be picked and America will decide, by vote, who will be the next TODAY show wedding couple."

The application is online, and it does look really lengthy, but um- who cares? Totally worth it if you win! Really important- gotta apply by July 27th. That's right around the corner.

Fido gets an invitation too

Wedding pups! That is right, dogs are big in weddings these days. Many couples consider their dog a part of the family, so why not include him or her? In this months Martha Stewart Weddings (page 186) there is an article on including Fido or Fee Fee and some wedding day doggy attire. This picture is of Gogo at Sarah & Billy's Sanibel Island wedding a couple of years ago. The girls at Floral Artistry created a garland of Italian Ruscus tied off with a satin bow to match the bridesmaids bouquets. Oh my gosh he's just so cute walking down the aisle.

And this is Sami! Sami wore a lei of white dendrobiums at Becky & Mike's Captiva wedding, just like the rest of the fellas.
Oh and please oh please- check the rules at your ceremony site, there can be restrictions on pooches!

This could be good or bad.

I've learned that I can blog from my cell phone, while sitting in traffic with my chai tea frap., while thumbing through this new Martha Stewart Weddings, between a cancelled wedding and meetings.

Cancelled wedding? Yep. I'll blog about that one tomorrow. That's what I'd like to call a blog CLIFFHANGER.

Custom Weddings

You all know that I am all about everything being custom. Every wedding is without a doubt different, but making that extra effort to be unique is what makes each wedding unforgettable. Lucky for us the next issue of Martha Stewart Weddings is focusing on customizing your weddings! I can't wait to get my hands on it of course. It will be on newsstands Monday.
This favor is one of my favorites ever. If you have time, you can make them yourself. Or, bring the photo to your local baker and ask for a quote- you might be surprised how inexpensive they can be. To customize them, order extra monogram stickers or seals with your wedding invitations and place them on the top of the box to secure the ribbon.

Wedding tv shows

Someone asked me what my favorite wedding tv shows are. Truth is, I like them all. Although I usually only get to watch them when I have insomnia (I am so thankful for DVR!). Anyway, here's my list:
Platinum Weddings on WE
Married Away on WE
Whose Wedding is it Anyway on Style
Martha Stewart Weddings on Style
I also of course love to see the In Style celebrity wedding specials that occasionally run on ABC. And I will also admit that I watch Bridezillas every now and again too. It's just hard to fathom that brides can really be like that. Good grief.
There are some new wedding specials do out this spring, I'll post a note here when I know more.
OH! This Wednesdayday at 9pm est there's a new show airing on Fox, The Wedding Bells. It's a sitcom about 3 wedding planners. The previews look hilarious.
